A Message from the Chapter President

The Austin Chapter of the Federal Bar Association has been serving the Austin federal practitioner since 1985. Today, the Austin Chapter is growing fast, and presently has more than 130 members from private practice, government agencies, military branches, local law schools, and local courts. Our chapter membership covers all of the counties in the Austin Division of the Western District: Bastrop, Blanco, Burleson, Burnet, Caldwell, Gillespie, Hays, Kimble, Lampasas, Lee, Llano, Mason, McCulloch, San Saba, Travis, Washington, and Williamson.

Our chapter is committed to providing a community forum for all of the participants in the federal courts in Austin. Below you will find a listing of the chapter officers, recent and upcoming events, and helpful links for the federal court practitioner. If you have not already done so, I invite you to join the Federal Bar Association and the Austin Chapter and join us at one of our events. Welcome, and I look forward to seeing you soon.

Federal Court Practice Seminar
Presented by the Austin Chapter of the FBA and the Austin Bar Association
This seminar presents the nuts and bolts of federal-court practice, with a focus on practicing in the Western District of Texas, as well as timely topics, including electronic filing, federal sentencing, and electronic discovery. The seminar satisfies the course requirement for admission to the Western District of Texas.
Time: 8:00 a.m.–4:15 p.m.
Location: Austin Bar Association, 816 Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas
Featured speakers: federal judges, experienced civil practitioners, criminal prosecutors, and federal public defenders.
MCLE: [Pending] 7 hours, including 1.00 hour of ethics
Cost: $150.00; free to current FBA members who register before October 16, 2009.  Registration forms postmarked after October 31, 2009 must include an additional $15.00.
