Message From the Chair

Welcome to the Federal Career Service Division (“FCSD”) webpage. My name is Steven Miller. I am honored to serve as the Chair of the FCSD for 2023-2024. For more than thirty years, the FCSD has represented members of the Federal Bar Association employed by the United States and the District of Columbia by, among other things:

1. Reviewing and commenting on ongoing legislative and regulatory proposals having an effect on federal employee career attorneys;

2. Presenting and sponsoring continuing legal education programs for federal employee career attorneys;

3. Monitoring developments in the Federal and State systems regarding admission to practice and recertification rules and policies that affect federal employee career attorneys; and

4. Acting, upon request, as a spokesperson before agencies and other entities where federal employee. career attorney concerns are at issue.

Our division prides itself on being a place for federal employee career attorneys to raise issues that are unique to federal employment and to have those issues addressed. We welcome new members and would like to hear your ideas and suggestions for improving our division. Please contact me at sections@fedbar.org if you are interested in taking on a leadership role in the FCSD or simply learning more about this section.

Steve Miller
2023-2024 Federal Career Service Division Chair
