New Member Luncheon
On July 30, 2009, the Chapter hosted a luncheon for new members in an informal setting, giving each of the new members an opportunity to meet with the officers and Executive Committee of the Rhode Island Chapter.

United States Supreme Court Admissions Ceremony and Luncheon with General William K. Suter, Clerk of the United States Supreme Court
This event is submitted for a Presidential Citation. At the request of the Rhode Island Chapter, and with the support of the United States District Court, William K. Suter, Clerk of the United States Supreme Court, conducted a Supreme Court admissions ceremony at the United States District Courthouse. General Suter was our guest and speaker at a luncheon immediately following the ceremony.

Federal Practice Series
A series of seminars sponsored by: The Rhode Island Bar Association, the United States District Court and the Federal Bar Association
This series of seminars was held in March, April and May 2009 at the United States District courthouse, CLE credit was offered. The series included: Admiralty Law - Substantive and Procedural Issues, Comparison of State and Federal Employment Law, and Criminal Law -Federal and State sentencing.

Reception for Newly-Admitted Federal Lawyers
On Feburary 6, 2009, during the admissions ceremony for new Federal lawyers, the District Court’s Chief Judge invited the Chapter President to speak to the admittees about the Federal Bar Association and its role. Immediately following the ceremony, the FBA held a reception for the newly-admitted Federal lawyers in the foyer of the United States District Court. This event is planned by our younger lawyer liaison.
