On Sept. 19, 2011, Justice Elena Kagan became an Honorary Life Fellow of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association at a ceremony held at the U.S. Supreme Court. The ceremony was jointly sponsored by the District of Columbia, Capitol Hill, Chicago, District of Connecticut, Eastern District of New York, Southern District of New York, Northern Virginia, and Maryland Chapters of the Federal Bar Association. Justice Kagan is the sixth justice of the Supreme Court to become an Honorary Life Fellow of the Foundation of the Federal Bar Association. The event took place in the East and West Conference Rooms.
