Continuing Resolution Passes: Federal Courts To Be Funded Through FY2013

March 21, 2013 - Congress agreed on a Continuing Resolution that keeps the federal courts and the rest of the government funded through the end of the fiscal year. The measure provides funding at sequester-reduced levels, effectively a 5 percent cut below last year's level. The CR also extends the pay freeze for all federal employees through a third year.

The impact of sequestration remains to be seen, including if, when and where furloughs begin next month. The Department of Defense announced, after passage in Congress of the CR, that it was delaying its furlough notices for two weeks and reassessing furlough plans for the remainder of the fiscal year, in light funding under the CR and its terms, including budget reprogramming authority.
